

Studies show that instruction must be explicit in order for children to acquire the knowledge needed for the
building blocks of learning. Children must have many opportunities to practice in order to develop the necessary skills required in any curriculum.
Prep for One incorporates the components of a balanced literacy program; oral language development, shared and guided reading, phonetic awareness and phonics, combined with the strategies of the “All Star Reading” approach. Children will have the opportunity to continue to develop their literacy skills. The program is designed to promote confidence in abilities and skills of developing readers and writers.
This program is directed by a Certified Teacher/Reading Specialist (with extensive experience in early literacy) and is carried out by trained tutors in the regular home tutoring program.
